FOCS is Making an Impact!

Celebrating Families and Artists of Color at FOCS ARTS FEST 2017!

On Sunday, June 4th, Families Of Color Seattle hosted FOCS ARTS FEST 2017, the region’s signature family concert and arts festival, a fun-filled community experience for parents, friends and children! The international famous break dance crew Massive Monkees and powerful NW Tap Connection brought incredible energy as headliners! Our community danced to the wondrous music of global and local performers of color from Hawaii & Tahiti, West Africa, Brasil, PNW feminist hip hop, and a queer POC dance collective. Guests were wowed by The Great Cigma Magician, arts corner, delicious food trucks, and Molly Moon’s Homemade Ice Cream!

$1M Legal Defense Fund approved!

Amy Pak, ED of FOCS, and many community leaders were invited to stand and testify with City of Seattle Councilmember Lorena González to pass the proposed $1M Legal Defense Fund. This legal defense fund provides $1M legal aid to immigrants and refugees in response to Seattle’s declaration as a Sanctuary city for immigrants. The bill was passed unanimously by Seattle City Council.
